LEE SUMMERS – Instructor, Lyrics and Libretto Writing for Adults

Lee Summers is an AUDELCO and Bistro Award winner, a recipient of the Gilman and Gonzalez-Falla Commendation and a Yip Harburg Fellow. His works have been produced/presented in numerous venues, such as Radio City Musical Hall, the Kennedy Center, Off-Broadway at Theatre Row (Amas) and Gramercy Theatre, and the Triad Theatre. Regionals include Theatreworks in Palo Alto, the American Heartland Theatre, the Arkansas Rep, Karamu Theatre, the Delaware Theatre Company, Meadowbrook Theatre, the Ensemble Theatre, the Milwaukee Rep and more. Academic venues include Aaron Davis Hall, Marymount College and the Madison Theatre at Molloy. As a director, venues include New World Stages, Urban Stages, The Cell, Alvin Ailey - and pre Covid-19, the Grande Theatre in Salt Lake City. Summers is a National Alliance for Musical Theatre alum and has served on selection panels for the both the NYMF and NAMT festivals. Summers made his Broadway performance debut in the original Dreamgirls and his producing debut as lead producer of Off Broadway’s From My Hometown. Summers has served as an adjunct at NYU’s Tisch and Steinhardt schools and for several other colleges and universities. He is a member is SDC, SAG/AFTRA and AEA and holds a BA from SUNY Empire State College and an MFA from NYU/Tisch School of the arts.
