APRIL ARMSTRONG-Teaching Artist
April has worked with noted creatives and directors such as George Wolfe, Ping Chong, Lawrence Sacharow, Joanne Akalaitus, Tom O’Horgan, Mark Wing Davey, and Eve Ensler. April received a 2024 AUDELCO AWARD for Best Actress in a Musical, for Off B’way production of THE WORLD ACCORDING TO MICKI GRANT, written and directed by Nora Cole. She played Off-Broadway as the former President Jimmy Carter in Susan Lambert Hatem’s NY premiere of CONFIDENCE AND THE SPEECH. April performed in two Broadway National Tours; RAGTIME and CAROUSEL. Some of her favorite regional theater roles are: Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady; Billie Holiday in LADY DAY AT EMERSON’S BAR AND GRILL; Cunegonde in CANDID; Mother Superior in SISTER ACT; and The Fairy Godmother in CINDERELLA. April sang the closing theme in the film, WASHINGTON SQUARE with Albert Finney and Jennifer Jason Lee and was a recurring Reporter in LAW & ORDER: SVU and has co-starred on THE OTHER TWO. She starred in the festival award winning short film, DIVIDE: TIME TO BREATH.
