The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy
Two-Week Intensive, August 7–18
Seeking Talented Young People 12-18
A program for young actors who take musical theatre performance seriously.
This is an opportunity to take the next steps in deepening training and craft! Amas Musical Theatre’s award-winning reputation has built a network of established theatre artists, teachers and creatives who have developed this special two-week training program in NYC.
The camp will meet from 10am-4:30pm in Manhattan from Tuesday-Saturday. Classes will include:
• Singing Technique
• Acting Technique
• Dance for Musical Theatre
• Theatre History
At the end of the two weeks, there will be a invited showcase with minimal sets, costumes and props. Supplements provided by staff include and are not limited to: a field trip to a Broadway Show/Museum, Showcase performance materials (costumes, props, music, etc), dramaturgical research on show material to aid in performance.
This camp is specifically designed for budding theatre artists looking to deepen their training beyond the ‘skill set’ of singing, dancing and acting. This is meant to take a holistic approach to Musical Theatre performance, with a deeply artistic as well as a ‘business of acting’ approach. It will encourage the camp goer to actively engage with their performance material in a serious and thoughtful way, emphasizing process over performance. From there, the teachers can help the performer find what material (monologues, songs, scenes) works best for them and how to have a compelling headshot/resume.
How We Stand Out
By emphasizing the artistic process and allowing young performers the ability to discover and learn the crafting of their own technique, we hold camp goers to high but achievable standard. We allow for the individual to find out what makes their way of performing unique while still being rooted in traditional performance teaching—identifying actions and objectives, script analysis, table work, etc. This way, the student is continuously challenged and treated with respect, maturity, and professionalism.
$400 for current Teen Academy Students.
